I'm over 30, married to Anna, and we live in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I'm originally from Oxford in the UK. We have a daughter and a son, Phoebe and Miles. When I'm not working, playing with technology, I love to play the bass guitar (I've been playing for around 17 years now), and cook (Nom nom nom...).

I attended the University of Sussex in Brighton, England and received a BSc in Chemistry; it was at this point I realised I never, ever wanted to see a test-tube or use a bunsen-burner again and gave up on that, moving into IT at around the same time this Internet thing started rearing its head in popular culture ('95 / '96-ish).

The internet found me in mid-1994, and here is my first ever post (back when the World-Wide-Web was considered "new-fangled", elm was my mail client and Gopher was cutting edge.)

Since then, I've worked for a number of technology startups in various pre-sales and post-sales roles: Sales Engineer, Developer, Systems Admin, Consultant (in no particular order). Since mid-2006, I've been working for Juniper Networks initially working with the Layer 7 load balancers and now focussing on the WAN Acceleration products.
